dc.description.abstractLa maca (Lepidium meyenii Walp) es una raíz de los andes del Perú, usada como alimento por su valor nutricional y sus propiedades etnomedicinales, por lo que forma parte de la medicina tradicional. Los objetivos del presente estudio fueron, demostrar la capacidad antioxidante de los extractos acuoso y etanólico de harina de maca amarilla in vitro y comprobar en animales que recibieron una dieta hipercolesterolémica el efecto antioxidante e hipolipemiante de los ecotipos amarillo, negro, rojo y morado de maca. Finalmente evaluar los efectos adversos de la administración de maca y atorvastatina en ratas hipercolesterolémicas a nivel hepático. Se realizaron pruebas para medir la capacidad antioxidante del extracto acuoso y etanólico in vitro. Se emplearon ratas machos Sprague-Dowley, sometidas a una dieta rica en colesterol y distribuidas en grupos de acuerdo al tratamiento, ya sea con los ecotipos de maca o atorvastatina, se evaluó perfil lipídico, vitamina A, C, niveles de TBARS-MDA y fibrinógeno. Los cuales fueron analizados aplicando la prueba t de Student y la Turkey. Así mismo mediante cortes histológicos se evaluó el tejido aórtico y hepático de los grupos de estudio.
dc.description.abstract--- The “maca” (Lepidium meyenii Walp) is an andean root from Peru, used as a food for its nutricional value and ethnomedical properties, being part of peruvian traditional medicine. The goals of this study were to demonstrate in vitro the antioxidant capacity of aqueous and ethanolic extracts from yellow maca flour and verify the antioxidant and hypolipaemic efect of ecotypes yellow, black, red and bruise of maca over animals that were fed with a hypercholesterolemic diet. Finally, evaluate the unfavorable effect of maca and atorvastatin administration in hypercholesterolomic rats at hepatic level. Tests were performed to measure in vitro the antioxidant capacity of aqueous and ethanol extracts. Sprague-Dowley male rats were used, subjected to a rich-cholesterol diet and distributed in groups according to various treatments, either with different ecotypes of maca or atorvastatin. Lipid profile, vitamins A and C, TBARS-MDA and fibrinogen were measured and statistically analized by Student’s t-test and Tukey. Likewise, through histologic sections the aortic and hepatic tissues from study groups were evaluated.
